Ingredients for the dough:
- 4 cups semi-coarse flour
- 0.8oz of yeast
- ¼ packet of baking powder
- 1/2 cup of lukewarm water
- 1/2 cup of milk
- 1/4 cup of cooking oil
- ½ spoon of salt
- 1 teaspoon of granulated sugar
Ingredients for the filling and decoration:
- sausage
- hard cheese
- ketchup
- oregano
- egg yolk for brushing the dough
Instructions:
- To prepare a classic yeast dough, dissolve sugar and yeast in warm milk and let it stand for about 10 minutes.
- Add the resulting yeast to the remaining ingredients and make a smooth dough. Let it rise in a warm place for around 45 minutes.
- After the dough has risen, roll it out to a thickness of 0.5 inches and use a round cutter to make circles.
- Place the rounds on a baking sheet lined with baking paper.
- Make a well in each circle using the opposite end of a wooden spoon to avoid puncturing the dough.
- Fill the well with some ketchup, sprinkle with oregano, and place a slice of sausage on top.
- Brush the dough with beaten egg yolk and bake in a preheated oven at 410°F.
- After baking, sprinkle some grated cheese on top and bake for a little longer.
