Copenhagen’s biggest and most infamous Christmas markets take place in the Tivoli amusement park on Town Hall Square (Rådhuspladsen in Danish).
Sales stalls attract all kinds of goodies, and the children’s world of Christmas attractions offers unique entertainment, from merry-go-rounds to theater performances, an ice rink and Santa’s house. All this complemented by thousands of lights that create a glittering atmosphere.
Food stalls abound with Christmas goodies . Here you can indulge in Danish Christmas classics such as gingerbread hearts, pancakes, marzipan, roast pork sandwiches, æbleskiver or rice pudding
You must not miss tasting gløgg , a spiced alcoholic drink that is a kind of Nordic version of punch. It belongs to the pre-Christmas and winter traditions of Scandinavia. Recipes vary by country and region. You can find honest Gløgg at many stalls throughout the city.

Højbro Plads is one of the main squares in central Copenhagen and hosts one of the city’s most famous Advent markets in November and December. Its location makes this market an ideal place for a little shopping after visiting the main sights .
There are many wooden cabins under construction, in which craftsmen and merchants sell various products. Children have the opportunity to meet Santa and his reindeer.

Interesting places in Copenhagen
Tivoli
Decorated stalls, ice rinks, a large number of Christmas trees and, above all, carousels. You will see all this when you go to Tivoli amusement park. The area is vast, so set aside at least half a day for your visit. The park has a long history, it was founded in 1846. Imagine that one of the first visitors was the writer Hans Christian Andersen.
Zoo
Copenhagen Zoo invites you to meet the giant panda. Go after an animal that can only be seen in a few European zoos. In November and December, it is open every day from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The Little Mermaid

Castellet
Kastellet is a former military fortress. It is located near the Little Mermaid and its area is a nice place to walk in summer and winter.
National Gallery of Denmark
In the National Gallery you will see a collection of works of various artistic styles. It includes both Renaissance and modern works. Opening hours are from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
National Museum
If you are more interested in the history of Denmark than art, visit the National Museum, where you can see finds older than 3000 years. An interactive exhibition is prepared for children, where they can learn about the history of education or medieval cuisine. It is open every day except Monday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Rosenborg Castle
The castle dates from the 17th century. Historical equipment, a collection of jewels and portraits can be seen here. Wax mannequins of the castle’s former inhabitants complete the atmosphere.
Town Hall Square
Rådhuspladsen, or Town Hall Square in Czech, is definitely not to be missed, because this is where the Christmas markets take place. The historic town hall building is definitely worth a visit.

New Year’s Eve in Copenhagen
Advent markets are usually visited at the end of November or during December. You can enjoy Copenhagen even between holidays. And what is definitely worth it is New Year’s Eve and the celebration of the new year. Restaurants offer rich New Year’s Eve menus .
