Crispy homemade pretzels
7. 10. 2025
In a rush from work and forgot the yeast? No problem, we can still make the recipe without it. Let’s get started!
Ingredients:
- 2 cups of all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 2 tsp salt
- 1 tsp sugar
- 4-5 tbsp of grated fat (you can use butter or lard instead)
- 1 egg
- 1/3-1/2 cup of lukewarm water
- egg for brushing
- sprinkles to taste
Instructions:
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and sugar.
- Add the grated fat (or butter/lard) until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Beat the egg in a separate bowl and add it to the mixture. Mix until the egg is fully incorporated.
- Gradually add the lukewarm water, mixing until the dough comes together. Be careful not to add too much water – you want the dough to be soft and non-sticky.
- Work with the dough immediately. Roll it out and cut pretzels out of it. The dough should be 4-5 mm thick.
- Place the cut pretzels on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- In a separate bowl, beat an egg and brush it over all the pretzels.
- Choose the sprinkles you like best, such as seeds, salt, or poppy seeds, and sprinkle them over the pretzels.
- Preheat your oven to 350-370°F. Once it’s heated, place the pretzels in the oven and bake for approximately 8-12 minutes or until they’re golden brown.
