Christmas Almond Circles
7. 10. 2025
This recipe is similar to the classic Linzer cookies, but it also contains almonds, giving it that characteristic and unmistakable taste.
Ingredients:
- 3/4 cup of all-purpose flour
- 1/3 cup of powdered sugar
- 1 cup of butter
- 1 cup of grated almonds
- 2 egg yolks
- 2 crushed cloves
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- chopped almonds and egg whites to decorate
- for gluing and flavoring preserves or chocolate
Method:
- Sift the plain flour, grated almonds , powdered sugar, and cinnamon into the prepared bowl, throw in the cloves, and mix all these dry ingredients.
- Then add chopped, softened butter with egg yolks and make a dough. You don’t even have to let the dough rest.
- Roll it out on a plate and form balls from the dough, which you put straight on a baking sheet lined with baking paper.
- Brush each cookie with beaten egg white, sprinkle with chopped almonds, and bake at 320°F until pink.
- Finally, cover the cookies with chocolate or marmalade, for example. You can sprinkle the top with chocolate or sugar, but it’s not necessary; they taste great as they are.
