To intensify the taste, lightly dry-roast the hazelnuts in a pan and remove the skins before grinding them.
Ingredients:
- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 1/2 cup of cold butter
- 1/2 cup ground walnuts or hazelnuts
- 1/4 cup of powdered sugar
- 1/2 vanilla pod with seeds scraped out
For wrapping
- 1/3 cup of powdered sugar
- 1/2 vanilla pod with seeds scraped out
Method:
- Combine the flour, salt, cubed butter, icing sugar, nuts, and vanilla seeds in a food processor fitted with the paddle attachment.
- Mix on medium speed until a crumbly dough forms.
- Add 1-2 tablespoons of milk if the dough is too crumbly.
- Shape the dough into a ball, wrap it in cling film, and refrigerate it for an hour.
- Preheat the oven to 338°F and line the trays with baking paper.
- Roll out the cooled dough into a cylinder about 0.6-0.8 inches
- Cut the roll into approximately 3.2-inch pieces and shape them into a roll or crescent shape.
- Bake the vanilla rolls for approximately 12-15 minutes until the edges are golden.
- In the meantime, scrape out the vanilla pod and mix the seeds with the powdered sugar.
- Wrap the still-warm candy in their mixture.
