This recipe will be appreciated by all those who love Linzer dough but do not want to spend a lot of time making it.
Linzer cookies are a traditional Austrian pastry consisting of two buttery, nutty, or almond-flavored shortbread cookies sandwiched with a layer of jam. These delightful cookies are often dusted with powdered sugar and are known for their delicate texture and rich flavor.
The simple recipe contains excellent marzipan, which gives the Linzer cookies an extra look and taste!
Ingredients
- 1-2 packages of Linze dough (you can buy it at the grocery store)
- 1 package of Marzipan (you can buy it or make it by yourself)
- 1 egg (yolk)
- confectionery sprinkles
Method
- Cut out various shapes from the dough. It depends entirely on you whether it will be stars, wheels, etc.
- Preheat the oven to 360°F and bake the cut shapes for 6-8 minutes. Watch the candy carefully and remove it as soon as it starts to turn slightly golden.
- Let the baked cookies cool, and prepare the marzipan mass if you decide to make it homemade.
- Roll out the dough and cut out the same shapes as the ones you baked.
- Brush the candy with the beaten egg yolk and stick the marzipan on it.
- At the end, you can decorate the marzipan candy with confectionery sprinkles.
- You are done!

You don’t have to use marzipan only as a top layer of cookies. Nowadays, you can buy ready-made marzipan decorations for sweets in various shapes, such as stars, flowers, hearts, etc.
