Heart-Shaped Cookies with Coffee

Coffee hearts are rich with the robust flavor of coffee, which permeates not only the dough but also the cream itself.
Ingredients
For the dough:
- 1 1/2 cup of all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup of butter
- 2 egg yolks
- 1/2 bag of baking powder
- 1 tablespoon of instant or ground coffee
- 1/4 cup of powdered sugar
- 1/2 cup of ground walnuts
- milk as needed
For the cream:
- 1/2 cup of butter
- 1/2 cup of powdered sugar
- 1 cup of strong brewed coffee
- 1 tablespoon of coarse flour
Method
- Sift the flour, icing sugar, and baking powder into a rolling pin. Make a well in the middle; add egg yolks, butter cut into pieces, coffee, nuts, and a little milk.
- Make a smooth and elastic dough. It must not be too stiff or too thin.
- Carefully add the milk a little at a time, always mixing thoroughly before adding more.
- Once the dough has a smooth and elastic consistency, let it rest in the fridge for about 1 hour. Then, roll out the dough into a thick plate and start cutting out hearts.
- Prepare a tray, put baking paper on it (if you don’t have one, grease it), and stack the hearts on it. Bake in a heated oven at 340°F until the hearts turn pink.
- While the cookies are baking, prepare the cream.
- Boil the brewed coffee with flour to make a slurry. Set aside and let cool.
- Meanwhile, put the chopped softened butter in a bowl, sprinkle with sugar, and rub it together into a smooth foam.
- Add the coffee grounds and mix thoroughly until the cream is smooth.
- After baking, let the hearts cool, and then, always, with the help of the cream, glue two hearts together.
- Finally, you can decorate according to your own taste, for example, with chocolate coating or confectionery decoration.
