Dried Figs Candy

Another variant of goodies is sweets made from dried figs. The recipe is not complicated, and you can have them ready in a few minutes!
Ingredients
- 1 cup whole, shelled hazelnuts
- 1 cup whole almonds
- ⅔ cup flour
- 2 tablespoons of unsweetened cocoa powder
- 2 and ¼ teaspoons finely grated orange peel (make sure the orange doesn’t have any sprinkles on it)
- 2 teaspoons fennel seeds (lightly crushed)
- ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
- ⅛ teaspoon of ground cloves
- 1 1/2 cup of dried figs
- ⅔ cup granulated sugar
- ½ cup honey
Method
- Preheat the oven to 350°F.
- Coarsely chop the hazelnuts and almonds and set aside.
- Grease the pan with butter and sprinkle it with flour. Also, set aside.
- Mix the flour, cocoa powder, orange peel, fennel seeds, cinnamon, and cloves in a large bowl until well combined.
- Add the nuts and figs to the mixture. Mix again.
- Combine sugar and honey in a small saucepan and place over low heat. Increase the heat to medium and cook, without stirring, for about 6 minutes.
- After this time, quickly pour the nut mixture into the pot and stir quickly. You will get a very thick mixture.
- Transfer the mixture from the pot to the pan and place it in the oven. Bake for about 35 minutes.
- After baking, remove the mixture and let it cool for at least 1 hour. Then, remove it from the pan and cut it into horizontal sticks with a thickness of 2 cm.
- You should get about 36 fig sticks using this recipe.
