Chocolate Hazelnut Tarts

These mini walnut cupcakes with chocolate filling are a delicious treat. They consist of a soft buttery dough and are filled with a silky smooth chocolate filling that will melt in your mouth.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup cocoa powder
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • a pinch of salt
  • 3/4 cup butter
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 cup dark chocolate
  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 1 cup hazelnuts (finely chopped)

Method

  • Combine the flour, cocoa powder, icing sugar, and salt and mix until combined.
  • Add the cold chopped butter and stir.
  • Then add the egg and vanilla extract and mix until a dough forms.
  • Cover the dough with cling film and let it set in the fridge for at least an hour.
  • Transfer the dough to a clean, floured surface and roll it out with a rolling pin, and cut out small circles.
  • Place the cut dough into the molds.
  • Poke holes in the bottom of the cupcake with a fork and put them in the freezer for at least 20 minutes.
  • Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F for about 15-20 minutes. Remove from the oven and let cool while you prepare the filling.
  • Melt the dark chocolate and mix it with the cream and nuts.
  • Pour the chocolate filling into the cooled cupcakes.
  • Put the walnut cupcakes in the fridge for 2-3 hours to harden the filling.
