Advent program in Slavkov near Brno

The Battle of Slavkov undoubtedly belongs to the largest and most infamous battle ever on our territory. Napoleon Bonaparte defeated the joint army of Austria and Russia here on December 2, 1805.

More than 150 thousand soldiers fought against each other in the battle. The town of Slavkov near Brno commemorates this event yearly with a commemorative event and reconstruction of the fight called Once Upon a Time in Slavkov. Part of the accompanying program is, for example, fencing duels, demonstrations of weapons, and military encampment.

Given that the battle “took place in the time of Advent”, this event is also connected with the Advent fair, which offers handicrafts and Christmas decorations in addition to a variety of sweet and savory Christmas treats.

10.00 Ceremonial opening of the commemorative event with the entry of soldiers (at the town hall)

The event also includes costumed tours of the Slavkov castle at 11:30 a.m., 12:30 p.m., 2:30 p.m., and 3:30 p.m.
